Photo Day

On Wednesday, October 6th DHS School Photos will be here in the morning to take individual and class photos. Please ensure your son has paid special attention to his hair that morning and that he is wearing his formal uniform of navy polo shirt and khaki pants. A paper with photo order instructions will be sent home with your son after his picture has been taken.

Checkpoint Meetings

WED. Oct. 6 @ 4pm-8pm & THURS. Oct. 7 @ 8am-4pm

The  Conference Manager by SchoolSoft is open for booking your Checkpoint Meeting. New families will need to set up an account here.

The first Checkpoint Meeting is a time to touch base with your child’s homeroom mentor teacher who will review and create your son’s Individualized Development Program (“IDP”) or Individualized Program Plan (“IPP”) with you. Families should book an appointment with their son’s homeroom teacher and the expectation is that the student will be present for the Checkpoint Meeting.

Standard Gr. 6 & Gr. 7 Follow-up Vaccinations

Our AHS public health nurse will be here on October 13 at 1:00pm to administer the standard Gr. 6 vaccinations. These are not COVID-19 vaccinations. An envelope with consent forms has been sent home with all Gr. 6 students. Please return them to Mr. Jackson at the main office as soon as possible.

For grade 7 students, last year, when in grade 6, they only received their first round of shots.  No consent forms needed as AHS has them from last spring.  For new students, your sons name will be in the AHS system from their previous school and they will reconcile with our class lists to determine their status.

If you have any questions please call our school AHS Nurse,  Matt Brooks at 403-944-7332

Student Highlight

Recently, several of our students had the opportunity to audition with Youth Theatre Canada. We are proud to announce that one of our students, Dewy W. has been offered a spot on the cast of The Little Prince. Congratulations, Dewy, on launching your theatrical career and we hope you have a truly fantastic experience as you showcase your talents in this way!

Reminder

One of our teachers picked up 20 North Point hoodies after gym class which were all not labeled. We have a fundraising initiative through Mable’s Labels (Click Support a Fundraiser and put our school in the search box) or you can simply use a sharpie but please, please, please label your son’s clothes (especially the hoodies). They all look the same!

Townhall

Our Townhall took place over zoom to keep inline with current restrictions. The winners of this month’s 5R draw were Connor S. and Lucas L. Both were awarded gift certificates to McDonalds.

Grade K-5 Art

Mrs. Fairhead has been inspiring the elementary students to create self-portraits which have been brightening up our halls. They are fantastic artistic expressions and worthy of sharing with our North Point families!

Contact Mr. Fagan to get the books your son has read counted toward his Navigator Squads points.  Just send an email in or sign a note outlining how many pages the book had.  Points are not awarded for ‘pages within an unfinished book’ but rather only for the number of pages in a completed book!

The month of September had three sports up and running (literally) with two of them coming to a close shortly.
