Oct. 10, 2019

Now that the boys are back from their Annual Retreats, things are in a comfortable rhythm here at North Point. We want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and a great extra long weekend!

High Five for the Long Weekend!

Please note that our official school START time is 8:30 am.  Students should be dropped off BEFORE this time to be able to get their coats and backpacks stored appropriately so they can be in class by 8:30 am or be getting on a bus to SAIT at that time.  Thank you!!

FRI Oct. 11 – Non-instructional Day – No Classes

MON Oct. 14 – Thanksgiving Monday – No School

Student Vote – Oct. 17

Next Thursday (Oct. 17) North Point will have the chance to participate in a parallel federal election voting process through an initiative called Student Vote. North Point students will be selecting the candidates from the school’s riding and be able to practice active citizenship as part of their Social Studies course. The last Student Vote results were presented by Peter Mansbridge on CBC News so expect to see results again the night of the official election. If you have any questions, please let Mr.Fagan know.

The 2nd Annual Financial Academy Meme Contest is underway. The challenge is to take a photo and make a meme of entrepreneurship and/or business as learned in the Financial Academy. It should relate to the student’s everyday life in a fun and creative way.

Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and clarity of the message. The deadline for sending in your meme is Monday, October 28, 2019. We will start posting entries as they come in for your viewing enjoyment. Four winners will be selected – one from each class. Their meme will be published in an upcoming edition of the newsletter, possibly on our social media channels, displayed on Financial Academy bulletin board and receive a $20 gift card awarded on Nov 4.

Students and parents can access complete details on the Financial Academy Meme Contest in this video explaining the process or in the PDF instructions.
