to the Point – June 23, 2019

YOU MADE IT! It’s the last week of 2018-19. Thank you for walking this journey with North Point School. It was an amazing year of growth – both for our boys and for our program. Many firsts and many great experiences.

Just reminder that boys can wear Navigators Squad shirts for Monday Sports Day. Also – casual dress code for last two days of school Tuesday / Wednesday.

We were grateful to celebrate the successes of the year at the Annual Awards Night on June 20, 2019. We recognized boys in athletics, academics and citizenship. We also revealed the new awards and wall plaque for the renamed R. Jack Pirie Citizenship Award. Special congratulations to Owen Asplund, Dexter Bellows and Rowan Althorp for receiving this award for 2018-19. We will post a complete list of the awards next week with photos.

When we start 2019-20, our 5th year of North Point classes, we will see many familiar faces and a few new ones. We will welcome to the North Point family new boys in all grades. We are also excited to welcome Dorothy Reimer as our new Communications/Marketing & Admin Specialist, taking over for Ms. Veronique. In addition, a new Physical Education Teacher will lead our active boys and build on the program that Ms. Quinn led with high energy this year. Watch for the Back to School bulletin in August to learn more about Dorothy and our new Phys. Ed. Teacher.

On the flip side, we will bid farewell to Veronique Perks. Special thanks for leading our marketing and communications efforts these last three years and best wishes in your new adventure! Veronique will be busy this fall finishing up her classes for the Human Resources Management Certificate and ultimately pursuing the CPHR designation.

Ms. Quinn will join Rundle College as of Fall 2019. She is looking forward to working at the Senior High level and taking on a varsity coaching position. Thank you Ms. Quinn for her commitment and dedication this year and wish her all the best in her future endeavours!

** FRIENDS OF NORTH POINT SOCIETY – Special thanks to all the volunteers who made the planning and distribution of the monthly fun lunches and the weekly Healthy Hunger lunches go smoothly! We couldn’t have done it without you!

** LOST & FOUND – We have many items at the school in the lost and found. When you come for drop off or pickup, please look through the racks and shelves to claim your lost items – many of them have names on them!

NEED BOOKS & GAMES — Miss Jenn is looking for children’s books and novels to build her classroom library and any board games that anyone wants to donate that are kicking around your house collecting dust…Maybe time for a summer purge!  THANKS to those who have already sent in boxes of goodies for Ms. Jenn.
