Calgary Herald Features North Point

This week there was an article about North Point in the Private Schools special section about our exciting future ahead and the solid foundation established by Kim Pirie and the team here at North Point. Here we Grow!

Here is a link to the article (feel free to share it with your circle of influence):

Financial Education Update

We’re midway through the investment challenge. Here are the results to date. Thirty-three NP teams have entered into the competition, comprising 85 student investors between grades 6-11. We have 23 teams in the grade 6-8 middle school division, and our top 3 teams are in 7th, 12th and 25th place out of 533 teams. There are 10 NP teams in the grade 9-12 high school division, and our top 3 teams are in 10th, 15th and 22nd place out of 359 teams.

See what the teams are up to on the Financial Academy’s Stock Market Game Resource Page. It has competition details, video tutorials, lessons, and a portfolio leaderboard. A $250 prize will be awarded to the NP team with the greatest equity on April 15, 2022.

Planning for Next Year

Re-enrollment Packages Coming Soon

We will be sending out our re-enrollment packages at the beginning of March. We anticipate our retention rate will continue to be very strong. If you have any questions about next year at all, please reach out to Mr. Devost at bdevost@northpoint.school.

Currie Campus Sneak Peak

During our upcoming Checkpoint meetings on the evening of March 2nd and during the day on March 3rd , we welcome our current North Point families to stop by our Currie Campus and check it out.  Our Grade 8-9 boys along with our High School and Girls School will be located at Currie next fall.  Regardless of your grade next year, we would love to have you pop in and see Currie!

Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) surveys

Each year, the government sends surveys to teachers, students and their parents or guardians. The surveys gather feedback on the quality of education provided by school authorities and their schools. The surveys ask the same questions each year to make sure we measure how schools are performing over time.  These surveys typically arrive in February and you have up until Mar 25, 2022 to complete it.

Teachers and students complete surveys online. Parents receive a survey by mail and have the option to complete it online or on paper. Parents with more than one student in an eligible grade will receive a separate survey for each child.  Students complete the online survey in school.

In private schools all students in Grades 4 and above, as well as their parents, are included in the survey. All teachers in these schools receive the survey every year as well.

Responding to the survey is voluntary however as a school we truly value hearing from our parents on this survey. The surveys give important feedback that helps schools improve, so the government encourages Albertans to complete them.

All responses remain anonymous. Results are calculated at the provincial, school authority and school level. Results for groups with fewer than 6 responses are not reported.

SURVEY LINK – https://public.education.alberta.ca/APOS – once you receive your RAC access code/s from Alberta Education, you can use this link to complete the survey.  You will find North Point School for Boys from the drop down menu.  Select “North Point School for Boys (DSEPS) 1982” if your son has a psychological education assessment on file with us or “North Point School for Boys 2318” if not.

Thank you for your support through the Master Chocolat Chocolate Bars sales as well as the subscriptions to the Dunvegan Gardens Farmer’s Market boxes! Both fundraisers are ongoing. If you’d like a few more chocolate bars, just let the front office know. To receive a Farmer’s Market Box, sign up on Dunvegan’s website. (don’t forget to indicate the correct Navigator team!)
