We are excited to announce that we have received the keys to our new High School Campus this week. Located just a stone’s throw away from our Main Campus, in Currie (formerly the Currie Barracks), the High School will occupy the main floor of the BENNETT BUILDING B6. You can read more about the history of this building here.

Seeped in history, this modern space will be an inspiring learning environment for our Grade 9-11 boys. Being adjacent to the Parade Square and surrounded by mature landscaping, this building has ample opportunity for the boys to access outdoor spaces for recreation activities such as a game of 9-square or ball hockey. The new campus is also close to Mount Royal University where we will have access to collegiate level Physical Education facilities.

We are eager to see our older boys grow in this new campus and thrive in a High School environment suited for their learning needs.

We will hold our third round of Checkpoint Meetings on May 5 at 4:00pm – 8:00pm and May 6 at 8:00am – 4:00pm. This means that there is no school on May 6 for students to accommodate the meetings. We are offering both in-person and virtual meetings. Please confirm with the teacher which you prefer.

Checkpoint Meetings are an opportunity for parents and students to meet with teachers to discuss progress and address questions/concerns. This third checkpoint meeting will give you a chance to review your son’s finalized Individualized Development/Program Plan. We strongly encourage one/both parents from each family to attend. Using the online software, Grades 1/2 and 10/11 should sign up with their Homeroom teacher. Grades 3-9 should sign up with their cohort team of teachers. Both of these teachers will be in the Checkpoint Meeting. Book online at nps.schoolsoft.com. NOW OPEN FOR BOOKING.

Passion Projects are an opportunity for students to research and present on a topic, any topic, that they are passionate about. They will then do a 2-5 minute presentation on their topic which also answers some preset questions.

We will have the presentations set up in the gym or in classrooms depending on available space and appropriate Covid spacing. We will be live-streaming and/or posting the presentations to YouTube since we are unable to have parents attend the presentations in person.

TUES. MAY 11: Gr. 1-4 presentations

WED. MAY 12: Gr. 8-9 presentations

TUES. MAY 18: Gr. 6 presentations

WED. MAY 19: Gr. 5 & 7 presentations

May 21-29

It is our pleasure to be able to offer 20 of our grade 8-10 students the opportunity to travel to the GULF ISLANDS in beautiful British Columbia for 9 days in May 2021. The nature of this adventurous based trip is to play in amazing landscapes, build teamwork, practical implementation of previous learned skills and to have fun! Canadian Flora, Fauna and Geography of the only temperate rainforest in the world will be at the forefront of all daily lessons. Many of the activities planned fit nicely into our CTS courses for grade 10 credits.

Drama: Improv/Comedy

We are pleased to announce that Immanuela Lawrence improvisor and teacher from the Loose Moose Theatre Company will be teaching our students all about comedy and improv starting this Friday during our Options Blocks. Mrs. Lawrence is a screenwriter and improv performer originally from the Netherlands. She is a co-creator and writer of the television series, FABAR AGE OF COMPUTER (Viceland, CityTV). She earned a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Amsterdam and studied long form improvisation under Jordan Peele at Boom Chicago. She is a frequent collaborator with husband Dave Lawrence, together they have several feature films and television series in development with Telefilm Canada, CBC and the AMDF.
